Sonic CD is a platformer video game developed and published by Sega for the Sega CD. It is the only Sonic the Hedgehog game to be released for Sega’s CD based add-on and was meant to showcase what the new hardware was capable of.

The game was written and designed by Hideo Kojima who aspired to create a game with a cinematic feel. Kojima was inspired by several difference science fiction films and as a result the game’s story and setting where heavily influenced by the 1982 movie Blade Runner and 1984 movie The Terminator.
